In his 15 years of teaching Mariano learned that EVERYONE can play music and improvise and can prove this in his ability of communicate ideas easily, how to go to the important points, catch the strong and weak points of the students and work on them. After finishing his MA in woodwind performance and pedagogy and finish working at Florida Atlantic University, he went to Nepal and love the country and its people. After two years living in Nepal he opened a music conservatory (www.katjazz.com.np) which probably is the best music institution in the South Asian continent. It has more than 200 students, 12 faculty and offers a variety of classes.
At the moment Mariano travels giving workshops and masterclasses with one of the most acclaimed music educators around the world.
He has giving masterclasses, workshops and lectures in Brazil, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, US, Bhutan, Finland, etc.
The masterclasses offered are in a variety of subject especially in woodwind execution, problems, interpretation, woodwind doubling, on improvisation, theory, jazz, classical music, flamenco.
Mariano has a talent to work with ensembles ranging from kids to adults. Jazz combos, jazz big bands, chamber groups, soloists and a variety of ensembles of different instruments creating fusion. He works on hands on more than lecturing so after a workshops normally we do a concert.
Mariano has given lectures especially in Jazz and Flamenco. History, history demonstration; and also in encouraging people to keep playing, on choosing a career in music, on how not to be afraid of the stage, etc.
